sounds like you subconsciously have a good grasp on characterization, but that consciously you fret and second-guess and doubt yourself too much to realize it

maybe try writing without publishing, and after a few months of that, to give it time to see your writing with fresh eyes, see if you're satisfied with your characterization

like, take off the pressure of the public seeing it

alternatively, find a good, nice writer in your fandom to take a look at some of your writing, if you'd like

This is good advice. I can't emphasize enough how much you should just relax and write with the intention of never showing the product to anyone and see what comes out. You might be surprised.
