Question for military

(Anonymous) 2013-07-22 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I guess this probably applies mostly to military in the US but I'm curious about other countries, too.

Does seeing military stuff in fiction make you enjoy it less once you are in the military?

I love seeing anything to do with the military in fiction but I might go into ROTC in the fall. I don't know if I want to if I won't like seeing that stuff anymore because it's my favorite thing. I kinda worry that I like the idea of being the army more than I would like being in it because my idea of it comes from Hollywood.

There probably will be a period of disillusionment, as there is for a lot of things in life, when the "reality" of it doesn't match up to the "fantasy".

But there's a lot of good things to find in the reality, too, that aren't potrayed in the fantasy.
Perhaps you'll enjoy the military!
