Somehow I doubt that the OP was banned for the opinion, but more the way they argued that opinion instead.

You'd be surprised. Not all of HP fandom is that way, but it's definitely got its pockets, and the fans that have "their precious" characters can be brutally obsessive and hyper-defensive.
