For me it's Pratchett's work that this is. I still like it but...not as much as I thought I would/the hype implied.

Early Pratchett, High Pratchett, or Post-Diagnosis Pratchett? Because frankly his books could have been written by three different people. Early P is okay, Post Diagnosis P is a train-wreck (seriously, his assistant needs to take him to one side and tell him that not being able to proof read his work is producing disjointed stream of consciousness crap and mary sue characters). High Pratchett rocks though.

Which books would you classify as "Early Pratchett", "High Pratchett" and "Post-Diagnosis Pratchett"?

Everything up to 1989/90 is early, 89/90 and later is where he really hit his stride and he had a pretty good run with only a couple of clunkers then 2003 was when his Alzheimer's started to hit and he's only really had one truly good novel since then. His works since 2009 have just been jumbled messes of ooc and non sequiturs that are virtually unreadable. It is sad that no one has had the courage to go up to him and say "Terry, time to call it a day mate". I know "writing" and story creation makes the guy happy, so it must be hard to say it, but it'd be for his own good really.
