Whitewashing (Bitten)

(Anonymous) 2013-07-24 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the studio that is producing the TV version of Kelley Armstrong's 'Bitten' finally said why they cast a white actor for the half Japanese character Jeremy Danvers. Their reasoning was that they dropped his Kitsune heritage, and so he was just a werewolf. So, there wasn't any reason they had to cast a Japanese/Asian actor for the part anymore.

I'm still disappointed, but I guess I can be okay with this being a different story entirely from the books.

Man, really? Sigh.

I tend to go into most books-to-movies with that frame of mind. I'd rather they change the story, than change the characters to fit the story they want to tell, though.

I wonder if they'll make everyone look the same, like when the did Tanya Huff's Blood series. All those strong jaws, average heights, and light brown/blonde hair. xP

Clay has brown hair, I think, instead of blonde. Logan is still African American at least.
