OP here, I don't hate Snape fans at all, though. I consider myself a fan of the character, because he's interesting and complex and a hell of a lot of fun to write/read about and discuss. I get on well with most other Snape fans (at least, the ones who don't call Lily a cunt/bitch/whore and so on).

I see it that way, too. I just wouldn't consider his feelings to be love, but rather obsession.
