I know there's a 98% chance that you're trolling, but you do realize that some people become stay at home parents because of financial reasons, right? Child care can be hella expensive and for some people, if their job is very low paying then it's actually more expensive to have a job and also pay day care bills. I have a friend who become a stay at home mom because working while sending her kid to day care was actually costing her $200 dollars more a month than it would have if she didn't work.

It's a career black hole. Go ask someone you know in HR exactly how difficult it is to get back into the working world after being a stay at home home, and the effect it has upon your future career.

And tbh, this is probably my class background speaking, but you should have been in a better financial position before making such a monumental decision - omg religion, accidents happen etc I know.

Her husband has a job that pays a lot better but they still didn't want to throw away that much cash every month

yep, you are a classist douche, but at least you know it.

DA: regardless of whether or not they're classicist, it's still true. My dad worked in recruiting and you're crazy to think it's not a black hole on your CV if you stayed home for 10 years.

But then surely, it's not a life ambition, just a temporary thing. Which would end by the time the kid is old enough for school.
