I didn't pay much attention to words spoken once people were inside those skulls XD such a cool set up with that design and how they'd make them walk and move

Her ... Was it kendo? Fencing with the sticks was awesome :D and I think they balanced her cultural respect for the commander with her obvious desire to fight very well

Possibly kendo? All I remember was stick fighting, haha.

I think Mako was one of the most well rounded characters. I like the fact that we learned about her backstory and her relationship with Stacker was touching.

I would say not just one of the most well rounded, but the most well rounded.

Although I do want to say that I really, really liked the light touch Del Toro used with character development, and I think he did manage to get a good amount of characterization in using the light touch. Except for the characters who were stock archetypes, who I still loved because they were so well-executed (especially Aussie Jr. in the role of the Hotshot Pilot - I can't tell you how proper and how right I felt his whole storyline was)
