Hey, f!s people. I am hoping I can help a dear, dear friend win something that he most desperately needs.

My dear friend Terry Carr, a thirty-year paraplegic and Vietnam vet, has not had a drivable handicapped equipped vehicle for about four years. He's just spent almost a year bedridden, trying to heal pressure sores he got on his last visit to the VA hospital in Memphis. He is an amazing, sweet-natured history buff and cat-lover who played sports and shot competitively until his declining health made it impossible. If you could go here, and vote for him, so that he could win....

It would be amazing. They do ask for an email addy, but you can fake it, as they don't send out a confirmation. But please consider voting, and if you can't do that, please boost the signal. Of the six finalists, only three will win a vehicle.

I voted for Mr Carr, but I also feel bad about it. I hate these kind of contests where you have to choose who out of a number of very deserving candidates is going to get some desperately needed charity. I mean, really, which of these disabled veterans doesn't deserve a car? They should all have a car. How am I supposed to say that 5 of them shouldn't have a car? It's ridiculous that they don't all have handicapped equipped vehicles and that a motor oil company is trying to force us to decide which of them will get it in order to promote their product.

I'm sorry. It just bothers me, that's all.

I voted and they didn't ask for an e-mail? But I did use my facebook? I tried to vote again to make sure I did it right and they said I'd already used up my one vote for the day so I'm assuming it went through.

Yeah, i did it via FB, too, though Terry said you could put in a fake email (he'd had some friends get all twitchy about 'signing in' and said they didn't need to give real info).

So, really, who knows, but i hope people don't get too weird about that, it's not like they'll be hunted down and asked to fill our surveys or something....

I wish every vet could have something like this but yes, I do, too - he's had such a bad run, lately, and been so frustrated with having to be in bed and then, when he *can* get up, he can't go anywhere....

If anybody deserved to have *something* nice happen to him, it would be Terry.

They really don't. All the while bleating about how they don't have the money. It makes me so very angry.

Terry found out in his last VA visit that the meds they've been giving him for years have deteriorated his teeth and bones, and that he might end up having to have surgery on his jaw because of it.

Something he should have known about years ago, so he could research other meds!
