Re: I'm 99% sure I have the winner

What's wrong with that? It's physical, which appeals to a lot of people. Travel is a given. The end result makes people happy. Career Carny may not be a realistic decision, but I don't see a real reason for why this can't be a fun job for 1 to 10 years of a young guy's (or gal's, I suppose) life. Chances are good you can pick up some mechanic skills if you're there long enough to be trained on some ride-operation.

Guess I'm in the 1%.

Eh, from my understanding being a *carny* is closer to being a part of a moving amusement park - which really isn't that fun to work at, working for the circus could be fun sure - though I imagine it'd get a bit old - plus the fact you'd be paying taxes to however many states/areas you visit.

She hates physical work. I'm not even sure she likes traveling. I know she won't like traveling from one shitty little town to another.

And I don't know how vaguely knowing how to put up a big tent will come in handy in other career fields. She's not very mechanically inclined.

Keep in mind she's not going to develop any ACT or TALENT. She just wants to... be with a circus. I know that's sounds so "hey man, ~follow your dreams~" but she just has this dumb, idealized view of circus life that I KNOW she would hate or get tired of fast in real life.

Well, it's good to know your friend has someone in her life who knows her so much better than she knows herself.

I know right.

da

Carnies spend their lives (and their kids' lives) paying off rent on their rides/games to the owner. It's a suck job.
