All the other judging was over people with unrealistic expectations who are unprepared for the realities of their profession and not a blanket dismissal of the contributions a homemaker makes.

And so what if it's difficult to find a job? They are working hard to pursue something they love, and they have aspirations independent of getting married and having kids (which still might be a dream, but it's not the -only- dream). And even if they don't get the job they wanted, they at least will likely find some job or other, and be able to financially take care of themselves. "I want to be a housewife" means "I don't want to work, and I want my partner to provide for me." It does not take all day to clean your house or cook, and if the kids are at school all day there's no point in staying home, either. People can be "homemakers" and still work full time, or at least part time. Not to mention the real difficulties housewives face if they get divorced, and then do have to take care of themselves and their family, and have little work experience or few work skills.
