Hermione was a SJW in training

Wasn't that the point? For a while, Rowling portrayed Hermione as someone who had good intentions, but who didn't quite understand the cause she was fighting for and didn't take the wants and needs of the people/creatures she was defending into consideration. A lot of that behavior seemed toned down or rarely present at all near the end of the series and my guess is that she eventually grew out of it and evolved in her methods which is more than can be said for a lot of SJWs.

And even by the end of the war she was, what? 17? That's still very young - young enough not to have grown out of SJW-hood.

Yep, the free the House Elves stuff was pretty obvious satire of over earnest activists.
