I liked her lips better before, too.

And I kinda agree about the main trio? As single people they're not that special, but I love them together as a group. Idk man they're my OTP3 or something.

I like Mikasa on her own, she could make a good lead but Eren is what drives her, so it couldn't work. Eren gets on my nerves and I have trouble warming up to Armin. They do work well as a trio (and OT3) though!

I'm confused. Except for flashbacks when she was a kid, her lips have always been drawn prominently/pink in the anime?

I suppose OP means that they prefer Mikasa's design in the manga, where there are no lips.

I agree. EMA is the worst trio and pretty boring characters.

If you mean you prefer her lips in the manga, then I agree with you. I wrote something similar in the comments in the past. Mikasa looks like a full-grown woman who protects the boy Eren in the anime.

Well I have no 'major complaints' about the main trio or other characters, but I would say that Eren doesn't seem very likeable to me. My favorites are Levi, Hanji, Annie, Sascha, Mikasa and the person who's always with Krista.

the main 3 are my faves but i love the strength of their relationship more than any individual character. different preferences for different people. :)

I don't think that their feelings for each other are that deep, to be honest.

Mikasa has an unhealthy obsession with Eren and her friendship with Armin is weird. Looks to me like she doesn't care that much about him. I'm not saying that she doesn't consider him a friend, but I don't see any deep friendship. The same with Armin. Armin and Eren, on the other hand, are best friends and they care a lot about each other, but again I don't see Eren having deep feelings for Mikasa. Maybe it's because he is always angry and annoyed at her, but I don't know, he doesn't seem to think too much about her. For example during the Trost attack he was only concerned about Armin, never Mikasa.

Eren's lack of concern for Mikasa was probably confidence in her strength and ability, before that he always appeared to assume she'd be fine or succeed so that probably carried over. Armin on the other hand was shown to be the weakest in physical skills in the training so he'd probably feel he needed to look out for him.

I could have written the last part of the secret, so yeah. Agreed so much with the last part, OP. It confuses me why Mikasa and Armin (particularly Mikasa) are such a fandom darling; they're really boring. Mikasa's entire sthick is about Eren, while Armin probably couldn't function in the squad without Eren (and Mikasa) either. Basically, those two are so emotionally co-dependant to Eren that without Eren... They're just there, really.

I don't think their co-dependance makes them any less compelling. If anything, the unhealthy attachment they seem to have to Eren appeals to me.

I don't agree with you about Armin not being able to function within the squad without Mikasa and Eren though... He's a strategist and that continuously becomes more clear in the manga. He functions just fine, just not as a solider on the front-lines.

Mikasa is the fandom darling because she's a badass woman who isn't subjected to ridiculous fanservice or has to be continuously saved by the male main character. She is the one who is constantly saving him and is also the most capable fighter shown after Levi.

I used to love Mikasa, but her obsession with Eren annoys me, and the way she seems to think she is the most important thing in his life and the only one who understands it and can get to him. I don't really like Eren, either. The only one I really like of the main trio is Armin.

But I sort of have to agree on the B!S. Mikasa is just meh to me, and sometimes I want to call Mary Sue on her character. Eren's really nothing special either. When *big spoiler* happened to him, I found that I really didn't care? But I find Armin adorable and endearing. He's a cutie.

This is really sad. It's not uncommon in shounen series for there to be ace-like characters like Mikasa who outwardly excel at everything they do but are damaged on the inside. But since she's female, sure, Mary Sue.

I think they toned it down a bit in later episodes.
