I've never considered myself a fan of Gackt. But I respect him for never letting anything get to him, and to keep on doing his thing despite the Japanese media's (and "fan's") constant attempts to bring him down. The rape rumors were absolutely disgusting, and it's gross that the media was reporting it and defaming him without a shred of proof.

I think the pic's from Bunraku, which was the only good movie to be released in 2011. It's one of those beautiful and stylistically distinct things no one saw because who do you try to sell a Caucasus-set horseless, gunless Western weeb flick about Gackt and Josh Hartnett staring at each other to?

I actually am a fan of his, but he could very well be guilty. He certainly wouldn't be the first celebrity to be both talented and a singularly horrible person. The comments from his defenders are what's really disgusting, but that's about the least surprising thing about this whole mess.

I'm kind of on the fence about the whole thing. I completely agree with you though, that there's just as much a chance of him being guilty as being innocent, because you're right, he wouldn't be the first person to get things brushed under the rug just for being talented and/or famous.

I had to stop following the whole thing though because of the comments, because it was just... ugh... :/

Yes well see Stuart Hall. I think him pleading guilty on those sexual abuse charges was a good thing. Not just for his victims who then didn't need to go to court, but generally for the people who always seem to come out and deny that celebrities would ever do the things they are accused of.

I noticed recently there was a story about how the FBI have files on 24 boys who were payed off by Michael Jackson after he abused them. The story was discussed for one day then disappeared completely. IMO the denial and defensiveness and abuse of money/celebrity status in that case makes me feel so angry, it's just led to more victims.

If you meant the media 'defamed' him by creating a media circus and doing everything they could to turn this into a ~scandal~, then I sorta see your point.

But if they merely reported it and you've interpreted that as people trying to 'bring him down', then fuck off. Every goddamn time a celebrity is ever remotely hinted at doing something wrong, some people ALWAYS claim its by haters who love to bring him down and they're so ~noble~ for not letting it get to them. Yeah, having your celebrity status easily deflect any suspicions is SO HARD OMG.

That would be the former. The incident OP is talking about happened 4 years ago and the magazine that published it just recently was essentially their equivalent of the National Enquirer.
