Well, with the dish? It probably would have helped to know that it wasn't meant as an actual handle - which isn't on the maintenance person. As for the wall, chances are the *maintenance* person wouldn't know because, at least where I live, it's not generally standard procedure to rip up tile and check when getting an apartment ready. [Also, I'm suspecting it's something with the apartment above you that's the issue there - at least, always has been when I've had similar problems in my apartments.]

Also, you may have been perfectly nice idk, but always be nice to your maintenance people. Generally, if you're nice to them they're more than willing to help you out [like the anon up-thread said], but blaming them for something they aren't responsible for [like the soap dish]? That means they're not going to do any favors like that.

I never blamed then in person. I was civil, told him what happened, and then he said the damage was more extensive than he'd been told (we told him exactly what was wrong and noticed the other damage after the fact when we got off the phone, cause, you know, holy shit, thing came off wall).

I may be a bitch online, but I know when exactly and how exactly to talk to people when I need to.
