Eh, he could mean in a romantic sense where he wants the two of them to spend several days together, going out to places, and just relaxing in general without publishers/agents bothering them or tumblr people spamming his inbox about possible inactivity vs "WE'RE TOTES GONNA HAVE SEX FOR THREE DAYS STRAIGHT."

Agreed. I've been in relationships with a lot of traveling and as much as I enjoyed sex when they got back I usually just pulled away from internet and work and such when they got back just because I missed them and wanted to spend quality romantic time together. Sex involved? Yup. But mostly just... them. I read it like that with Neil here too.

That's the way I read it too. It didn't even occur to me until now the "SEX FOR HOURS AND HOURS AH HA HA" interpretation until now.

I mean the two of them have careers that involve using the internet for networking and promoting themselves, so it makes sense he would brag about getting a nice period of time just for the two of them in a personal blog. It sounds romantic; I would brag too!

If it were someone else, I might not have gotten the skeevy "We're going to be having sex for the next three days!" vibe from it but this is Neil Gaimen talking about Amanda Palmer. He's said skeevy stiff like that before and they're generally pretty gross about talking about stuff like that. Maybe I'm just weird, but even if it isn't sexual in nature, I don't want details about their private life. If he didn't want to be spammed, he could have just said "I won't be online for the next 3 days," or something to that effect.

Fair enough. I know the two of them have a reputation, but I don't really care enough about to know in details what that reputation is (other than Amanda's unpaid musicians for her tour thing), so if he has said skeevy TMI stuff in the past I'd be willing to take your word for it.

Everyone is so quick to "ewwwwwww, he's talking about sex." They could be gardening or lazing on a boat on a lake for hours on end for all we know.

Whoops! You have no idea how often I make this mistake. I see the '3' in 36 and my brain immediately translates it into "3 days".

Any other hour/day combo I'm perfectly find with, but this one for some reason gives me so much trouble.
