This. I'd feel the same even if they were the exact same age. It's like excessive PDA - there's a point where it stops looking like you're doing it for yourself and starts looking like you're doing it for other people to see.

Yes it makes me really uncomfortable. I can't bear it when friends go on Facebook and brag about how wonderful their partners are, or their marriage, or how that person is the love of their life. It was only when a relative of mine who is in a happy marriage said to me that she always assumes those people are trying too hard and wonders what they feel they need to prove, that I realised why. It does feel like trying way too hard. The general public do not need to know any of this stuff.
