Re: Unlikeable characters

Really late, but this first part is what I was going to say. My understanding of a character being "likeable" has little to do with whether the other characters like them, only whether the reader likes them. Often it's the character that the story repeatedly tells you to love that you most easily end up hating, because they haven't demonstrated any real substance to like.
