I also dislike the small eyes, but them being overly similar? I can't see that. Maybe because the ones that get really popular/shared on lots of sites usually have a style that's 'in' right now.
Remember the inaccurate Sugar Skulls being everywhere?

I'm into repaints and customs and I have so many different ones in my inspiration folder. You just need to search a little longer for them, but they do exist ;)
