I don't know the fandom, but I love the idea of measuring fanworks in joules.

[Picture is Rachel Bailey and Janet Scott? from the TV show "Scott & Bailey". Rachel Baily is a middle-aged woman with brown hair reaching to her chin and straight bangs/forelocks. She has pale skin and is wearing a black and white tartan shirt and a black coat with a nametag. Janet Scott is a middle-aged woman and has dark blonde hair reaching to her chin, pale skin and is wearing a dark long-sleeved blouse. They are sitting at a dark storage room-type of place with several mugs on a table in front of them. Bailey looks amused while Scott is pointing and laughing at something.]

I would trade every joule of fanwork I have ever done in my life three times over for a bigger fandom. It ought to be as big as Johnlock.

Johnlock = John Watson / Sherlock Holmes pairing

Psst! Transcriptanon - pretty sure that's actually Gill Murray and Julie Dodson. It's the current oddly dominant ship in the fandom.

ATWYR

Wait. By commenting with the correction underneath your comment did I prevent you from being able to edit? Would it have been better to comment at the parent level and wave for your attention in the subject line?

My logic is that it's cool since people reading the transcript will most likely also see your reply with the corrections, so it's okay if I don't edit it after it's been corrected (but yeah, once a comment has been replied to in livejournal or dreamwidth it can't be edited unless all the replies are deleted).

I think there's a chance I would miss it if you tried to grab my attention by replying on the parent comment, since after a certain amount of comments on the post, the subject lines stop showing, so, you did well! Don't worry about it, really!

One of those is Harriet Walter isn't it? She's fab. I thought for a minute I had a bit of face blindness when I read the transcript, glad you've clarified!

Nope. It's Amelia Bullmore and Pippa Haywood. Harriet Walter (who is utterly sensational) was in a similar role in Law & Order|UK, where she was criminally underused.

(She ditched the show after she'd made enough money to bankroll her exhibition and book celebrating the importance of older women's stories. Which was a glorious kind of fuck you to ITV's failure to do anything with her character, IMO.)

This show is the absolute tits. Everyone should watch it.

I agree so hard. So many women being shit-hot at their jobs in a professionally supportive network, while also being complex and human and hilarious.

Watching S&B makes me kind of sad though. It really throws into relief how bollocks 99.999% of our media is about women's friendships. I sit there paranoid worrying somebody is going to realise they let an incidentally feminist show slip through and then they'll take it back.

That is all.

Ain't never gonna happen.

Isn't boring typical bromance between two dudes that has been done hundreds of times, so sadly it's not going to happen.

HOWEVER, women written well? I'll be checking this out.

OP

Yeah. I mean obviously wanting Johnlock levels of fanlove is hyperbolic. But just imagining a universe where a pairing this fabulous could get even a tenth of the love of any generic dudeship makes me weep. I want to go to that alternate dimension. :(

You should definitely check out S&B. It's kind of spectacular to watch a police procedural that loves its female characters this much.

ITV really have been trying hard with female leads. Which is great, I hope the BBC follow suit.
