I wasn't into any of the shipping on the show much but I at least wanted to see more of her. Best scenario for me would have been her becoming a part of the main group of friends/cast but I knew that was never going to happen.

So I can kind of... maybe feel some of your pain.

I love this pairing too.

Danny/ Sam....eugh season 3 just ruined Sam's characterization. Her speech to Danny in Phantom Planet just made it sound like she care more about Danny being half ghost than him.

I wouldn't have minded Danny / Sam if they stuck to Sam's original character.

But in the end Danny / Valerie is just more interesting. He is a ghost she hunts ghosts , they have a deep history, and they both hand the most meaningful scenes together.

I'm more disappointed than upset, but yeah, they had a more chemistry in Flirting With Disaster than Sam and Danny did in the entire series.

Pre-season 3 Sam was awesome, but I preferred them as friends -- I mean, friends that love you that deeply, that is cool, no need to make it romantic/sexual!

seriously...sometimes his depiction of romance is cringeworthy.

Also, I'm as feminist as the next person but his "Sam is ALWAYS right even when she's being hypocritical or wrong?" ...NO Sam is a person a 14/ 15 year old person and in my experience 15 year old people are NOT always right. Even girls. We're as impulsive, one track minded and blind to long term as any other teenagers (give or take depending on different people).

basic fact of romance- if you have to roll back someone's characterization for the plot to work? YER DOIN IT WRONG. I say this as a writing geek and hopeful writer)

(also: Living Large was MUCH better when it was called Revenge of the Killer Garage Sale)

Butch Hartman is like George Lucas.

The cool bits of their creations that fans love came from other people and they can't write good romance to save their lives.

I didn't expect Danny/Valerie to be end game (because Danny/Sam was such a cliche childhood friends romance that it was inevitable. and lazy) but like you I much preferred it over Danny/Sam. I liked Sam, but it was just such a boring pairing in comparison.

I love Danny/Valerie more than I do Danny/Sam. It was just more dynamic and interesting. I didn't have any issues with the D/S (mainly because the show wasn't being subtle about it at all), I just got really annoyed with it during Season 3. ><

I also wished Valerie's character arc had the proper conclusion it deserved. Man, she barely got any screen time in the last season.

Valerie's lack of screen time is a big reason why I never finished watching the show. Like I got all excited for what I was sure would be the inevitable episode where Valerie finds out Danny=Danny Phantom then looked it up and found out there was no such episode. D:

That right there killed a lot of my love. :(

I really liked Danny/Sam, but to be fair I was at most a teenager when I last watched that show, so I may or may not see it the same way now. (I still might though - I love the best friends --> romance trope) I don't remember much of Valerie, either.
