Better start sacrificing things to the TV gods then. FOX's main goal in life is to cancel good/interesting shows.

I'm hoping that they'll be too afraid to piss off J.J. Abrams. Also, there's a remote chance it might be a hit.

Really? Can you blame them for a keeping show if the audience is just you and your mom? People are always pointing a finger at Fox but what about the people who simply don't watch it? I always point out the fact that at least Fox gave the shows a try. They could have skipped the script altogether and given us another reality show with Z-grade celebs in it.

It's less the fact that shows get canceled by Fox and more the way said shows are handled.

I'm not sure if this is the case anymore, but back in the early aughts, there would be disagreement between the execs over whether or not they should air a show at all. So, a show might make it to the screen -- but it would be bounced between time-slots, aired out of order, marketed poorly, and pre-empted randomly. Sure, it would get a "chance," but when some of the people running the network would rather it die from the get-go, it isn't exactly the best of chances.
