Meanwhile, I don't get the appeal of Makoto. He's so unobjectionable that he's boring.

As his own person, I agree that he's not very interesting, especially since we don't get that much insight into his own love for swimming, but I think that people (including myself) like him because of how he acts almost like a mom to the other characters--Haruka, in particular--with how caring he is. And I think it's funny that despite being so steady a character, as well as one of the tallest of the cast, he's pretty cowardly.

(also somewhat lamenting the fact that there's no new episode today. ;A;)
