F!S Privacy question

(Anonymous) 2013-08-01 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Someone posted in GC yesterday (I..think) that in certain versions of Firefox, "View Source" will give you the IP addresses of users -- is this only when IP logging is turned on, or all the time? Figured now would be the time to ask, since IP logging is on. :-P

If you can see IPs all the time via this method, do you check whether or not anons are regular anons, and where they're from? I.e., do you geolocate us based on reverse-lookup?

So yah I am basically kind of paranoid. :-P

Yeah, yesterday he called somebody out for starting a man-hate thread and then replying as a different anon opposed to the view. I don't remember seeing IP-logging on then, nor do I see it now, so I have no idea if we're ever truly anon anymore.

If you are going to let this change your posting habits, just leave now. Or get a name and own it.

Or get a fucking proxy like a babby.

Did I say I was going to let it change my posting habits? No. It was just an observation, fucko.

Mmm, the babby tears from hurting your butt, delicious. Vaguely erotic.

OP here

OK that answers my question (the nonnie who replied isn't me, noodles).

Now, that said, Noodles could be anoning, to pull ME out to post and...I think I'll stop this feedback loop RN yeah. Meh, I don't want to bother with proxies/etc., I was just wondering if anyone here (besides spreadsheet!anon -- or maybe spreadsheet!anon) has any way to track those of us who post here way too much as anons. XD

The view source IP info is there all the time but it doesn't display the same way as when IP logging is turned on unless you view source for each comment's individual page.
