Re: Percy Jackson

I actually really liked Grover. I can see where it might be annoying for book fans if he got a personality transplant, but I found Percy kind of dull in the movie and appreciated the levity Grover brought.

Just glancing over the IMDB for the sequel, it looks like it's probably going to go into a lot of the depth you found this one to be missing -- and clearly the movie folk don't care if they diverge from the books.

I think, in one respect, Lightning Thief succeeded in introducing us to the world without creating an overwhelming experience. It just also didn't create a very good experience.

I just hope they have him bring up his search for Pan/The Wild. It's a big part of Grover's character, especially since he becomes the new Pan at the end of the first series. He also has an empathy link with Percy that comes into play in SoM. I don't remember if it was mentioned in the first movie or not. You may have also noticed Annabeth is now a blonde, which is also a part of her character that really shouldn't have been left out of the first movie IMO. (She's not taken seriously because of it, despite being very smart/skilled at her interests)

Percy is a lot more likeable in the books. I don't know how they're going to do his relationship with his little brother Tyson in the movie (He's the Cyclops kid from the trailer), but it's sweet in the books.

Do you enjoy spoiling things for people?

The books have been out for years, and if they haven't read them by now, they probably never will!

Yeah, because interest in a movie NEVER prods people towards its source material.

Yes, I knew it was based on books. I've just never read them, and was just trying to get a feel for the general thoughts on the movie.

And she didn't like the movie. So, oh, wait-you're that anon that keeps trying to start troll/wank posts and then replies to herself/himself, aren't you? lol
