I feel you, OP.

I love Season 4, but the first two seasons are amazing. The angels were poorly handled, I think, but I liked Cas for seasons 4 & 5. I think his development has been pretty poor - what made him popular has suddenly taken over the whole character so he's more of a goofball with the occasional bout of actual use to the story, imo, than anything else.

That said, I don't ship anything, so I can't agree/disagree with you on that point.
