I'm trying to figure out why I loved Matt so much. I guess at that age I liked brooding jerkasses.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-01 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)- Batman: The Animated Series
- Calvin and Hobbes
- The Chronicles of Narnia
- most Disney movies
Also, some of the Goosebumps books were surprisingly good. I wouldn't call them fine literature, but they weren't all as cheesy and formulaic as I thought they would be.
Re: Things that held up after taking off the nostalgia goggles
And Night Court. So painfully 80s (the hair!), but it's held up really well.

Something I do love after all these years is a Muppet Family Christmas. One of my favorite childhood Christmas movies and I still watch it.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-02 01:10 am (UTC)(link)From my teens it's Freaks & Geeks, My So-Called Life, and the X-Men cartoon.
Re: Things that held up after taking off the nostalgia goggles
(Anonymous) 2013-08-02 01:17 am (UTC)(link)It was not incompetently written as I was fearing it would be with a more objective read-through, and now I appreciate characters I hadn't favored as a teenager.
Re: Things that held up after taking off the nostalgia goggles
(Anonymous) 2013-08-02 01:18 am (UTC)(link)I loved that movie when I was much younger, and I thought to myself, recently, that I was remembering it with nostalgia googles. And no, no I was not; it's still one of my favorite movies. :)
Re: Things that held up after taking off the nostalgia goggles
Um, something that hold up for me is Static Shock. I went and watched it again and I love it. Wow, do I love it.

But also Batman and Superman TAS, Hey Arnold, Mulan, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast.
Re: Things that held up after taking off the nostalgia goggles
So Pokémon Adventures, I guess; the older volumes at least.
