writing fics in exchanges or other organized events isn't for everyone -- I know I would be super stressed out too and wind up resenting the whole thing like you, so I try to write just for myself and publish the things that seem okayish to share with others, and consider that and other fandom discussions and commenting on some fics my contribution to fandom

anyway, playing cheerleader can help keep the enthusiasm going for the ones who do participate, so maybe you could do that?
