Awesome for you and op, personally (and this is not meant to shame anyone who wants to see the movie), I am a bit turned off because I've seen attitudes expressed by some in the scifi fandom that gay and trans characters shouldn't be in Scifi because in the future it will be "cured,"* so with an actively homophobic (and likely cis-sexist) writer I become acutely aware of the absence of gay/trans characters in a scifi piece and I have a hard time enjoying it. I wish the director and screenwriter would have added in a gay subplot with two dudes making out just to snub OSC and say gay people do exist in this future.

*There's even a fan-edit of a fan-made Star Trek episode that removes all the gay content D:

To go the canon route, they could easily play up the implications between Ender and Alai. (I'd be surprised if the movie didn't spawn at least one slashfic involving them.)

You just gave me a fabulous idea

I suggest that we all go see the movie, then write slash fanfic for it to tick off OSC.

Oh, it already exists. -> http://archiveofourown.org/works/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&work_search[query]=ender%27s+game

Never underestimate fandom. Ender/Alai seems pretty popular.

Still like this idea, Imma go see it now and write a fic that has both slash and makes one of the characters trans! Great idea iceyred.

There's a fanmade Star Trek episode with gay content? I am intrigued. Where can I find this? Is it any good?
