I agree. I just had a similar conversation with my boyfriend the other day about boycotting stores and such. We're tight on cash and when possible, we prefer buying from places like Target or Costco (i get my jeans from target when they go on sale). But sometimes, when we really need something, Wal-Mart and Sam's is the better option. We fucking hate it and avoid it as much as possible, but occasionally, we have to, cause they can be a lot cheaper around here.

If we boycotted everything that supported, or whatever, some horrible shit, we may as well go live in a cave.

Though there are a few places that have made my "never give them money" list, which is Chick-fil-a, Hobby Lobby, and Salvation Army.

But, unfortunately, on certain things, you have to pick and choose what you can afford and cannot afford to do away with. and that includes entertainment.

I probably don't want to know but why no Hobby Lobby?

Wait... what's Hobby Lobby done? D: I've never heard anything from them but one just opened near where I live... I was going to check it out but now not so sure.

They intend to refuse birth control to all their employees, and are actively taking a stand against any and all forms of healthcare reform.

They are an aggressively 'Christian' organization. They are incredibly invasive in their treatment of employees. The one here have done the reduce-hours-into-basically-firing for such 'sins' as admitting to being Jewish, living with any romantic partner you're not legally married to, having a baby while unwed, and having hair 'too long' or 'too short'. They get away with it because its an 'at will' state and they claim they are just 'upholding company image'

What the actual fuck. They are building one here and I need a job. And I buzz my hair (omg scandal) *sighs and crosses it off the list*

As someone else pointed out, they're refusing to cover contraception and are just generally "NO" about health coverage for their employees.

Also, from what I've read from accounts of others who've worked there, they're a lot like Chick-fil-A in their views and will treat them poorly if they're gay.

Now that's second hand info, but it honestly doesn't surprise me if that is indeed true.

If it's feasible, either online or if you have one, I'd try out Joann's. So far, I've yet to hear anything about them....the only thing I dislike about that place and that Hobby Lobby does better, is they have more doll creating things. Joann's has a poor selection. :(
