eh they kind of occupy that nebulous kids cartoon age category where they have adult like responsibilities, yet still often act like children so the target audience can relate to them.

It will probably never be mentioned in the show, but I think Mrs. Faust mentioned once in an interview that she perceived them as in their late teens to early twenties age wise.
