Secret 1
I'm gay, and living in a country where I can be jailed for it.
Ender's Game was one of my favourite childhood books. I loved and related to its message about being compassionate to people/aliens you don't understand because they're different, instead of hating and demonising them. I've been looking forward to watching the movie in the cinema since the time I first read it.
I know about Orson Scott Card's homophobia. It hurts, to put it mildly, but I scroll past and avoid reading where possible, because I don't want the memories tainted. But it's becoming harder to avoid, and I'm getting frustrated at well-meaning (especially straight) people telling me to boycott this movie and judging me for not wanting to do so. I don't have many good things in my life. This movie was supposed to be one of them, and it's becoming harder and harder to think of it with the same delight as when I first heard it was being made.
Just le me enjoy this, okay? I promise I'll make up for it. I doubled the cost of a ticket and donated it to an LGBT health organization*. I'll do more, just give me this one movie.
*not to brag, just to show I'm serious. I'm far from being rich (lol legalised job discrimination), but guilt triumphs monetary concerns.
Secret 2
I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person in the Merlin fandom who finds the 'Prince George as Arthur' trend creepy, and that maybe I'm the one at fault. [displeased face emoticon]
Secret 3 (warning for sex shaming)
I would not touch either Leto with a 10 foot pole. both are walking Sexually Transmitted Diseases and will never be faithful to any woman on earth. Man whores both of them. Gross.
Secret 4
Once I participated in a fest. I ended up hating the fic I wrote, and the whole thing made me so stressed out I ended up blocking the fest from my LJ. I only commented on the fic that I got as a present. Now, I'm feeling kind of stupid for overreacting this much. My fandom's small and dying, and I feel -- I don't know -- a responsibility to support it because I read a lot in it.
Secret 5
I honestly like her music. It's extremely relaxing, to the point where it's the only thing that can calm me down when I'm furious.
(Secret because: Everyone I know is all "laughing out loud, Enya is for New Age fruitcakes")
(Bonus secret: I want to waltz with someone to "Caribbean Blue".)
Secret 6
I can look past the stupid tacked-on backstory. I can look past the complete and utter character-bastardization that he underwent in Resident Evil 5. But I can't look past how goddamn ugly his character model was in Resident Evil 5.
Secret 7
I hate how any even remotely scary creepypasta gets turned into kawaii bullshit anime boys. What the hell was wrong with them before? Why does EVERYTHING even a teeny bit scary HAVE to be made into Out Of Character prettyboys? What's even the point of using the characters if you're just going to change them so drastically?
I know it shouldn't bother me, but it's near impossible to search the creepypasta tag without coming across that sort of stuff. All I want is scary stories, is that too much to ask?
Sorry I'm so angry sounding, I'm just stressed out a bit.
Secret 8
Okay, sexualize underage characters all you want, but I'm still allowed to think you're a disgusting creepy! I can't stand any discussion of certain "kids-shows-popular-with-adults" because the topic of which one you'd bone always comes up.
Secret 9
I am still not sure if their name is ironic or if they are a Christian metal band.
Secret 10
When this happened I laughed. Listening to you conflate their basketball partnership with a romantic one and shit on any other relationship as "less significant" for months... only for the character himself to turn around and say that the other dude was the real deal!
I enjoyed watching you backtrack. He's only talking about basketball, right?
Secret 11
I can't fucking stand fic reviewers who describe how much the canonical work the fic is derived from sucks before praising the fic as being ~so much better~ than the canon.
A simple "your fic is so good I like it even though I don't even like this show" is fine, but what on earth would possess someone to write a paragraph dissing a fictional work the person they're supposedly complimenting is probably a huge fan of? It's so insulting to the fic writer's intent (unless the writer explicitly said they dislike the work they're writing fic for -- which is rare), it's all about the reviewer needing to spout their opinions everywhere, even when it's not wanted, and not at all genuinely complimenting the fic writer.
Secret because: it's considered rude to argue with someone who compliments your fic, even if their compliment is insulting and contrary to your intent.
Secret 12
I've had fandom desires before, but the weirdest by far has got to be my desire to travel way forward in time and check out the fandom for major works of fiction that were produced around the last few decades. I'm so damn curious to see what survives and how peoples' view of it has changed over time.

Secret 14
As much as I like this series, I don't understand why it has such a ... fandomy fandom. I mean, jeez, they are constantly fighting and escaping being eaten, I doubt they have such free time for whatever goes on in people's headcanons, and most of the potential shipping is seriously disturbed obsessive behaviour.
Secret 15
I hate myself because the one time I met my idol, who inspired me to try directing, I was too shy to get a picture with him instead of just an autograph.
I know that's probably a dumb reason, but I can't help it that I'm a pathetic loser, and that incident shows it perfectly to me.
I'll probably never meet him again, and I'll live with this regret forever.
Too Big
I'm HAPPY when slash makes male fans uncomfortable!
Why? Because I think the ones who object the most are the same ones who do things to make women feel unwelcome in fandom (rape jokes, "tits or get the fuck out", etc.) and are the most entitled and expect everything to pander to them. I think it's hilarious how offended they get when they see something that objectifies men the same way they objectify women.
I feel a little bad fetishizing (male) homosexuality, but not much. In my opinion most online slash stuff (at least the stuff I see) is WAY more respectful to gay men than the majority of comics and video games are to women anyhow.
