(Anonymous) 2013-08-02 02:36 am (UTC)(link)This is hard because the best way to id the trees is by their bark, 2nd best by their leaves, and once the fungus has killed them the bark falls off and they usually break off a few feet from the ground, so they're topless. For ecology class in college we had a lab in the local forest where we were taking stats on trees killed by the fungus, and I had a knack for spotting them.
This is something I am good at that I will NEVER USE AGAIN. C'est la vie.
