Identifying black locust trees that have been killed by fungus.

This is hard because the best way to id the trees is by their bark, 2nd best by their leaves, and once the fungus has killed them the bark falls off and they usually break off a few feet from the ground, so they're topless. For ecology class in college we had a lab in the local forest where we were taking stats on trees killed by the fungus, and I had a knack for spotting them.

This is something I am good at that I will NEVER USE AGAIN. C'est la vie.

You don't know that. You might have a ecology or environmental conservation career. Or it might come up in conversation. It's an interesting piece of knowledge!

who knows, if you ever go into something that has you worked with plants the skill might branch into other sorts of "spotting the sick plant" observations
