While I think this is uber-creepy, I don't see why the fandom has to 'die a well-earned death'. I'm kinda hoping the fandom keeps going for a very long time. Occasional creepiness aside, it's a pretty awesome fandom.

Heck,some of my favorite fandoms are for things that have no new canon (old TV Shows, one-off movies, completed book series) and they're still going strong.
