You said the words were different, it was just the plot that was similar. That means nothing. People borrow plot ideas from different movies/songs/etc. all the damn time. There aren't that many original plots anymore.

I don't think she did anything wrong and to "out" her for borrowing a plot idea is ridiculous.

There are even adaptation fests that encourage people to take inspiration from harlequin novels or movies, etc.

If anything it would be nice if she had mentioned the inspiration in her author's notes. But it's certainly nothing you need to 'expose' her for or feel guilty for beta-ing.

But from what the OP says, they didn't just borrow the idea, they followed the plot 'beat for beat'. Taking a work and switching the words around can still be plagiarism or at least still be a lazy rip-off.
