Woah, calm the heck down.

"Honey" isn't always a dismissive address. In the South, it's often used to express gentle concern.

A lot of women don't always think of seeing a doctor, or more likely, think of seeing a doctor, but then convince themselves that the problem they have is so small that they'd feel stupid to go to one. Or that it seems embarrassing, or is probably normal and nothing can be done about it. And sometimes having another person go, "y'know, it does sound like you should see a doctor" is enough to make them feel okay about making that appointment and then I got to the word paternalistic and realized you were a troll, so, whups, but I've typed all this out now, so...yeah.

1. this isn't the south.

2. it's still condescending, even in the south. moreso in the south.

what the fuck even is this comment? for all you know, the person in question using the term honey could be from the south. since this is the internet, accessed by so many people from all around the world each day, i don't think you have the authority to say it's not the south.

whether or not the comment was condescending is irrelevant at this point. honest to god, if this woman's menstruation is causing that much of a problem for her, as many others in this thread have pointed out, she really should check in with a doctor if that's an option available to her.
