Ug, people do that?! What assholes! It's like when I randomly read an abortion or miscarriage fic that wasn't tagged, if I get het up about it (it literally starts giving me PTSD flashbacks to my own miscarriage) they just tell me I'm a pro-choice misogynist and GTFO.

To be honest, people often just forget to tag or are just thoughtless about the fact that YKINMK and not everyone wants to read about it. But I have indeed seen some people doing it on purpose - with sneery author's notes and all. They're not doing their kink-brethren a favour with that, but I guess they don't care.

*hugs*

I hate when people don't care if they triggered someone and insulting them after they've done it is 100x worse.

(I'm reminded of the time someone on tumblr with PTSD called out people on their abuse of trigger warnings and people just blew them off by claiming they must be white. It made me sick with anger)

I wish people took trigger warnings more seriously.

...and people just blew them off by claiming they must be white.

Because white people can't have triggers?

What the ever-loving fuck?

Seriously, that doesn't even make a modicum of sense. At that point, it's like, "do you actually understand the things you're saying, or have you just picked up on a certain usage of the word 'white' and now feel the need to toss it in anytime there's a discussion?"

They blew it off as "white tears" so it wasn't so much as "white people can't be triggered" and more "who cares about their pain, they're white."

It was really disgusting and made me furious.

I really hate the whole "_____ tears" thing.

That's...wow. Really, really gross. And not just for the attitude of "you're white, so who cares," but the further implication that anyone who dares question something must be white, and is therefore not worth being taken seriously.

Not only is it dismissive, but it's based on bizarre race-based prejudice. It's disheartening because it's clear that such people don't understand what white racism actually is, and probably don't actually care too much about it.

Things like that are why I view SJWs with distrust and feel like SJWism (not SJ as a whole but the radicals) is doing more harm than good.

It's why I try to bring up the topic and get people in the SJ community to call out that shit and wish that they would cut that group out and not tolerate it. More often I've been told "oh it's not that bad just a few bullies" and "well you're just mad you can't get away with bigotry anymore".

Just because they claim good intentions doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticized.

was this person named 'Riley'?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-05 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, just someone on Tumblr.

There are a fuckton more radicals than Riley.

Tumblr SJism has a thriving community of toxic SJWs that only encourages the "everyone but my group and those who agree with me can just fuck right off to hell" attitude. A Tumblr GIF archive blog has a whole section for "white tears/ male tears" gifs.

I didn't actually read that tumblr... thing, but rather than 'you must be white'* meaning 'white people can't be triggered' or 'no one cares about white pain', it seems more like it means 'white people are too sensitive.'

* I am not agreeing with improper trigger warning or such a blatantly prejudiced statement.
