I'm sick of being called a philistine because I don't give a shit about ASoIaF. Those books are not as unique and special and innovative as the fandom thinks they are. There are so many better fantasy series out there.

Yeah, GRRM isn't really all that, when it comes to his writing, it's just that he's been at it for so long. (And takes forever to write sequels, LOL.) Anyone calling you a philistine clearly has not read a decent book in their lives, OP.

Oh, thank goodness, I thought I was the only one who doesn't give a shit about those books.

Everyone keeps trying to get me to read them, and I just DON'T want to.

(Mainly because I'm burned out on fantasy as a genre, ESPECIALLY grimdark fantasy.)
