I do have problems with JJ and I don't know what comment you're referring to but, LOL, I have to jump in and say that fandom has taken that quote out of context and run it into the JJ-bashing ground to a pretty ridiculous degree. He was saying in an interview that when he was growing up he never got into Star Trek and didn't really "get" it, etc., but making the films was his reason to finally sit through the show and he really fell in love with the characters and he finished by saying it's now one of his favorite TV series of all time, but people only ever quote the first part because basically how dare you have anything to do with the films if you can't speak Klingon. I would love to have a bigger fan of Star Trek take over if/when he's no longer doing the reboot stuff, but let's face it, I likely would have gotten bored with Star Trek (particularly TOS, which is now probably my favorite) if I tried it out when I was a kid so I can't really give him a hard time about that.
