I've struggled with gender identity and issues my whole life and grew up surrounded by people who looked down on everyone that wasn't cisgendered heterosexual. That led to a lot of self-loathing and other awful stuff, but I've never had a chance to talk to anyone about why they think the way they do about transgenderism. I'd love to know because it's important for me to understand people.

I typed out a long, earnest reply as a person who may not necessarily be trans*phobic but maybe more trans*ignorant? If I actually made that reply, would it just create more wank? Do you really want to hear that?
