Honestly it sounds like you've got some rude readers. I think what you're saying is that the show borked your storyline so it can't be canon anymore? Still, the fic is old and you couldn't have known; I don't see the problem. If you still want to write the sequel just tag it as an AU and be open about the fact it isn't canon compliant and then ignore people who don't like it.
