I reblogged this post on tumblr from a user I want to be friends with that said basically "I'm tired of being the person to maintain friendships. No one ever texts me first or messages me first or tries to make plans with me if I don't mention that I'd like to hang out." That's pretty much my life, so I messaged her trying to make fandom conversation and mentioned that I was messaging her because she said no one ever messaged her first. And then she messaged me back this kind of mocking message saying that she didn't really mean that post, she was just mad at her friends. Ugh. So, then I felt stupid for thinking that someone else might have the same problem with maintaining friendships as me. Seriously, how the fuck do you find friends who give enough of a shit to make an effort to talk to you or spend time with you? It's depressing.

Wow. She sounds like someone I would never want to be friends with. Seriously, what an asshole. You were just trying to be nice.

I feel like that sometimes with certain friends. I think a lot of us find ourselves in that position sometimes. And sometimes we might even be that friend. I hope you find friends who you don't always have to do that with.

Well first, sorry about that, but at least now you know you shouldn't waste your time on that asshole.

Second, I think I saw that post going around and it sounded really clingy and manipulative to me. Sometimes your friends turn out to be assholes, and you need to cut them out of your life. But sometimes, you have to realize that it's not just them. Just because someone doesn't text you constantly doesn't mean they aren't your friend. They have a life and sometimes they need space. And, I know because I've been there, feeling sorry for yourself and trying to guilt people for not talking to you enough is just going to push them away and hurt you both.

Sorry, I kind of went off on a tangent and forgot to say that none of that was directed at you of course. Just the general tone of the tumblr post. Which might not even be the same post. So I feel like a jerk for even making this comment.
