Oh for god's sake, dispense with the hyperbole, please. I'm not denying that a good chunk of Destiel fans are a special kind of crazy over their ship, but literally nothing will happen when it doesn't become canon. They'll cry and probably tweet a few nasty things at people, but that's no different from normal. You make it sound like they'd band together to go burn down the studio or something.

i was casually talking to mine about destiel and how it wasn't canon and my friend flipped the fuck out (the change in her usual tone was insane) and if i hadn't dropped the subject i genuinely believe it would've turned into a huge, ridiculous argument and she would've stopped talking to me

i mean i love her but it's some serious hard core delusion

And that includes the reactions in tumblr. It's perfectly normal for a batshit fringe of the fandom, nothing that makes them different from all the other batshit fringes on all the other fandoms.

I posted the original comment, and FWIW, by something drastic I mostly mean self-harm. I know more than one Destiel shipper who has mental problems already and has latched on way too hard to the ship.
