"I read somewhere" <-- doesn't mean the source is correct, just that it exists. My bff and I have just started to watch the show, and when we hit season 5, we both started looking for answers about why the hell Jo and Ellen died. I believe the conversation in question was in Fandom Wank, although I can't find the link right now.

In any case, I have been looking for a source to deny that because yes, there's a lot of misogynistic shit in the fandom, so it's plausible to believe things like the one I read. Luckyly "random anon on Fandom!Secrets" has exactly the same authority as "random user on Fandom!Wank (Or maybe ONTD)" so now I can say to my BFF 'oh, no. I read somewhere that the writers killed Jo just because they wanted to kill a character that week'
