(Anonymous) 2013-08-06 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)I was only able to find one documented case of someone killing himself over a tv show (a 14-year-old Russian boy upset by a character death in 'Naruto,') but I'm actually rather surprised it doesn't happen more often, and I could very easily imagine distraught teenagers working themselves into a collective frenzy and some actual self-injuries resulting.
Though, I should add that I would expect it to happen with kids who already had serious problems not caused by the show; they are by no means uncommon online. My Tumblr dashboard is teeming with them some days.
