15. Oh my God, me too. I had to stop half-way through "The 40-Year Old Virgin" because it was just too much for me, and none of my friends understood why I was freaking out so badly. And I still haven't been able to finish "Meet the Parents," either. I don't know what it is, but I just can't stand to watch people go through stuff like that. I mean, I'll still watch stuff with people sometimes, but I definitely have to pass on seeing most comedies in theaters these days. Usually, I'm not so bad with animated stuff for some reason, but some shows I don't even bother trying because I can tell by the premise it's not going to work out.

Really, you felt that way about 40YOV? Most people (including myself) tend to feel upset like that because they're so embarrassed for the characters, but Judd Apatow is usually really good about creating that kind of scene without the massing eye-covering OH GOD WHYness.

Unfortunately, yeah, that movie was like that for me. I didn't finish it, and everyone I've talked to said that if I'd just wait until the end it would get better, but...well, to be honest, I never tried watching it again after the first time. I had to stop shortly after he had a flashback (er, I think it was a flashback) about trying to take off a girl's bra and it just going horribly, horribly wrong, and it was just so embarrassing.

I admit, the flashback parts had me covering my eyes, but really just get past that part and it turns into a much more sympathetic movie. The big thing in his stuff is always that while the characters may be alone and seeking something in one aspect of life, there is always support from others---which is one thing that I know tends to destroy me in situational movies.

Also it's funny as shit.

Heh. I know, I know...and people say that if I'd just stick with it and watch for a little while longer, I would definitely get over it and love the movie, too. At this point, I've probably built it up in my mind as being much worse than it actually was. Maybe I can just try again and skip that stuff? (But then I worry I'll miss something important or awesome, you know?)
