That friend was only the most extreme example. Maybe the Thor fandom is different, but I had only bad experiences with The Mummy. It's awesome when someone tells you they are interested in Ancient Egypt... and then they only talk about shit they "learned" from The Mummy.
I'm especially furious about people insisting Imhotep was evil and therefore dismissing the RL Imhotep and refusing to learn about him.

Yeah, I've also met various people who thought Titanic was only a movie. And not just young ones. Maybe I'm just bitter XD
