I never got into the Castle fandom, I guess I was getting what I wanted out of the show, but geez. Now I'm glad I didn't. What the heck with the hate on Alexis? It's not like she's a competing girl for a girlfriend, she's his freaking kid!

Came here to say almost exactly this. What the hell. Why would you ever hate on Alexis? She's awesome! The Father-Daughter relationship there just makes me melt, and it has no bearing on Castle/Beckett whatsoever. Oh, sorry, except for a positive bearing. Sheesh. So glad I had zero interest in Castle fandom.

So glad I've avoided most of the fandom now. Most of the fanfic I've read has dealt with Alexis's character pretty well, but I avoid Caskett BABBIES!1!!1 stuff because I rarely find one that is both realistic and appealing.

Hah, that is one thing I actually dislike about Bones the show. It seems like they almost ever mention that Booth has a son anymore and if they do it's a throwaway line. Everything is ChristineChristineChristine and it's like...okay...I can see it would be that way from Bones' perspective but Booth? Really?

Uh, anyway. Yeah.

(that said, I stopped watching Castle a season or two ago but I really did/do love the relationship between Castle and Alexis. I think it's awesome.)

Both, but it's mostly hatred on the actress that bleeds into hating the character, because objectively Alexis hasn't done anything objectionable or worthy of hating. But because the actress is not a rabid C/B shipper (as is her right not to be) and has expressed an opinion on the pairing that contradicts the mainstream "ZOMG TWU WUV!1!" one, the extremely mature fandom has started calling for her head. It's disgusting (especially because she's 18, and most of the people wishing death on her are in their mid-twenties).

Caskett shippers' hatred of her and the character she plays is the biggest reason why I left the fandom and just watch the show on my own.

It's gross how they bash her (and anyone) for having her own reading of the show, the ship, and her character. It's also horrible how they act, like she's just someone to be replaced by a non-existent Caskett baby because that's OBVIOUSLY the only way Caskett could ever be happy together, since Alexis isn't someone Castle would do anything for or someone who looks up to Beckett and seeks out her advice.

What. I've never seen any of this Alexis hate. From my excursions into Castle fandom, people seem to like her. It makes me sad that people would hate her. The Rick and Alexis's moments on Castle are adorable and make Castle 100x more likable.

OMG ARE YOU ME. That is EXACTLY why I had to create a new Tumblr account so I could purge myself from all the obnoxious people from the Castle fandom that I followed. Seriously, though, there seems to be this culture that bashing an 18-year-old girl is what the cool people do and I find it absolutely revolting. If it were, say, the actress who plays Lanie the one with her own conflicting reading of C/B, you BET no one would treat her the same way. It's just because Molly's so young that people think they can get away with it. Ugh.

The Tumblr fans are the worst. I mean LJ was pretty awful at some points (harassing cast and crew on Twitter for answering honestly when asked their opinion) but Tumblr just seems to breed the special brand of obnoxiousness that I fond on LJ. That might be the reason the Molly/Alexis hate is much more prevalent on Tumblr.

When I left Castle fandom, everyone seemed to worship her. I don't ship Casket though. I enjoyed their chemistry in the first season or two, but once they started getting along I lost interest.

I wish no ill will on Molly Quinn, but I'd dearly love to see Alexis get eaten by a bear.

Castle fandom only cares about Caskett. If it's on the show and not Caskett (say, Ryan or Esposito), it's largely ignored. If it gets in the way of Caskett (like Josh and Gina), it's hated.

And if it's real person who -- as has been said above -- doesn't see/ship/like Caskett, they're evil forever and they're character sucks. Seriously, never in my life have I seen a fandom that was so invested in the canon het pairing.

What section of the Castle fandom are you in? Honest question, because I've never seen this much Molly/Alexis hate in the fandom at all. I've seen dislike of both Molly and Alexis, but never to the extent you've stated. Most of the fandom LOVES Molly and at least likes Alexis, if they don't love her as much as the other characters.

(I'm just glad that people are generally liking Gates more because I fucking adore Gates).

And seriously, if you can't see past the "Casket" to see the rest of the awesome, you are missing out. And you deserve to.
