The lack of character development a la District 9 is precisely what made me enjoy Pacific Rim so much.

Eh, but what character development they did do was entirely too much for the generibland cast they created.

I would have preferred something more like Black Hawk Down with robots and monsters: spend the first fifteen minutes introducing the cast, then let them go to town fightan battols nonstop until the credits roll.
