Well, okay. Here's a thought. What if he legit thought he was doing something for the good of his world? I mean, all the monsters think of human children as both a means to an end and as monsters in their own right. We likely wouldn't have any qualms about killing a monster from their universe if it suited our needs.

Randall is good at what he does and doesn't really seem to question the authority of his "betters." (He's a dick because he's imitating his frat brothers.) Thus, when his boss asks him to help with a super secret task that will help the world, he likely wouldn't say no because 1.) that's his boss and a hero in the company 2.) saving the world, yo.

Plus, who doesn't what to show-up the dude who go kicked out of uni for being a cheater and is now better than you at a job you had formal training for?

I might have been casually brainstorming fic ideas for a while, but I'm also a pretty terrible writer so who knows.
